PRESSING ON MINISTRIES

Overcoming Through Christ

Who are we?

Pressing on Ministries is a local Christ-centered outreach offering hope and freedom to those struggling with substance abuse and other sinful habits.

What is our philosophy?

The following core beliefs about God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) shape how we approach ministry:
  • We believe that God loves all people. Therefore, we strive to reflect His love to all people.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is God's eternal Son and that He is alive and able to rescue all people from sinful and destructive behaviours. Therefore, we strive to point each person to Christ.
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit inspired the Holy Scriptures and uses these writings to powerfully change lives. Therefore, the Bible is the center of our curriculum and counsel.

  • What exactly do we do?

Our ministry grows out of our faith.
  • Because God is love, Pressing On is a relationship-based ministry. Our first goal is to develop personal, meaningful friendships with those whom we serve. People struggling with addictions and sinful habits often need fellowship that goes beyond Sunday morning church attendance. Pressing On is a safe place for them to experience support and accountability throughout the week.
  • Because Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, Pressing On is a Christ-centered ministry. Our public meetings and private counseling sessions center on prayer and worship. Our goal is not just to help people get victory over sin. Rather, it is to help them know and love Christ who meets our deepest needs. Victory over sin comes through knowing Christ.
  • Because the Holy Spirit inspired the Scriptures, Pressing On is a Bible-saturated ministry. Our public meetings and private counseling sessions include in-depth Bible teaching, discussion and Scripture memory.

  • Where is Pressing On Ministries

Our meeting place is located at 113 Brady Street in downtown Butler (next to the library). We also minister in the local prison and with other individuals throughout the Butler area.

How does Pressing On Ministries relate to local churches?

Our board includes pastors from Butler-area churches. We strive to strenghten local churches in two ways:
  • First, we provide opportunities for churches to minister to people who are struggling with addictions and other sinful habits. (Many churches are not able to provide daily "on-the-street" and "in-the-prison" ministry by themselves.)
  • Second, we encourage those whom we serve to get involved in a solid, Bible-teaching church. We've seen numerous individuals who were helped by Pressin On become faithful church members in various local churches. It is a joy to see them become a vibrant testimony for Christ and a blessing to the families and community.
  • All for His Glory,

    Dan Smith, Director
